Job description
About the Company
This opportunity is with a venture capital-backed fintech company based in New York City, currently scaling through its next major phase of expansion. The company operates within a large, underexploited fintech segment targeting small and mid-market businesses. Their platform replaces outdated financial processes, fragmented tools, and manual administrative workflows with modern, practical fintech solutions that deliver tangible business value and create urgency among buyers.
Role Overview
They are seeking a proven new business Account Executive (AE) to play a vital role during this growth phase. The position is sales-driven with no reliance on marketing-generated leads or Salesforce updates alone; instead, the sales team drives company momentum. Top performers have earned up to $500K+, and there remains significant opportunity for emerging talent to become a core hire shaping the company’s direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage 100% new business across small to mid-market accounts.
- Lead the entire sales cycle—from discovery through closing—engaging founders, operators, finance leaders, and commercial decision makers.
- Create buyer urgency, multi-thread appropriately, maintain deal momentum, and build self-sourced pipelines.
- Use creative outreach methods including outbound, events, referrals, and partnerships to generate new opportunities.
- Collaborate with leadership on messaging, process optimization, and sales playbook development.
- Drive revenue growth by closing new logos at a world-class closing level.
- Influence sales strategy and contribute to evolving the company’s commercial success.
Candidate Profile
- Top-performing sales professionals, including President’s Club winners or ranked AEs in the top 10% of their organizations.
- Proven track record with quota attainment consistently exceeding 120%, ideally in the 150-200%+ range.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business pipeline and close deals independently.
- Excellent skills in discovery, urgency creation, follow-up, and managing sales processes.
- Comfortable selling to senior stakeholders such as founders, finance leaders, and executives.
Preferred Backgrounds
Experience in fintech, payments, spend management, travel/expense management, procurement, payroll, HR technology, vertical SaaS, construction technology, healthcare SaaS, logistics, field service software, or high-velocity B2B SaaS is highly valued. Demonstrable sales success is more important than company logo affiliation.
What Might Not Suit You
- Roles relying solely on inbound leads or account farming.
- Professionals uncomfortable with outbound sales or preferring highly structured, mature sales processes requiring heavy management.
- Those unable to show clear quota overachievement or preferring slow, enterprise sales cycles.
- Applicants seeking lower-pressure roles with steady but not exceptional performance.
Compensation and Benefits
- On-target earnings between $300,000 and $400,000 annually, with potential for higher pay based on proven performance.
- Uncapped commissions with aggressive accelerators and performance bonuses.
- Equity stakes ahead of the company's next funding round.
- Comprehensive benefits including medical coverage and office stipend.
- Streamlined hiring process with three steps completed within one week.
