Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot temperature and air quality control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and technical servicing on all hotel's electrical and mechanical refrigeration equipment including freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, fan coil units, and chillers.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance for all air-conditioning and refrigeration systems to prevent breakdowns.
  • Evaluate operational performance of refrigeration system components to ensure efficiency.
  • Inspect and verify door mechanisms such as gaskets and latches on walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Maintain and adjust defrosting systems, including automation of ice makers.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from various hotel departments promptly.
  • Ensure regular cleaning of fan coil units and filters in air handling units to maintain air quality.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of air-conditioning and chilled water systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members to diagnose failures and optimize air conditioning and refrigeration functionalities.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by strictly controlling the venting of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere.
  • Conduct overhauls of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment as needed.
  • Monitor refrigeration fluids and oil levels, overseeing major repairs when required.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Storekeeper for timely procurement of necessary parts and materials.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the country's technical regulations and established safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must have completed formal training at a technical or vocational institute specializing in this field.
  • Minimum of one year experience working within a hotel engineering department.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics is essential.
  • Experience with Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) or Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) systems will be considered advantageous.
