Primary Purpose

The role involves delivering suitable educational activities and experiences that support students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. It also encourages students to acquire skills necessary for productive societal participation.

Responsibilities

• Arrive 15 minutes prior to carpool time (7:15 am) and be ready for assigned duties or preparation.
• Remain at school until dismissed by School or Managing Director or as required by business.
• Engage actively in school-wide and individual professional development, including a 2-3 week summer session.
• Participate in all staff meetings and perform assigned duties such as bus duty, morning/lunch/afternoon supervision.
• Supervise field lessons and trips as chaperone.
• Comply with state and federal requirements for reporting abuse or neglect.
• Adhere to school code of conduct and policies, promoting a positive professional culture.
• Set an example by modeling appropriate behavior per codes of conduct.
• Support directives from campus administrators and offer clerical, instructional, and behavioral aid as needed.
• Complete all Texas Reading Academies Training.
• Collaborate as a team to plan, align, and integrate curricula, attending grade-level meetings and addressing student-related issues.
• Develop rigorous, engaging lesson plans across various timelines (long-term to daily).
• Establish clear short- and long-term goals to guide instruction and maintain a safe, productive classroom environment.
• Consistently apply Uplift Education’s core mission and values within teaching.
• Design meaningful assessments and use daily conference times to analyze them timely.
• Provide necessary accommodations/modifications to support all students’ growth and success.
• Effectively implement the adopted Uplift curriculum alongside International Baccalaureate elements.
• Strive beyond standards to ensure student achievement.
• Maintain transparent communication with parents, giving frequent progress feedback per campus protocols.
• Maintain an open-door policy and enforce school policies within the classroom.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and public agencies to support attendance programs.
• Complete all network and state-mandated trainings on schedule.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution is required; a Master’s is preferred but optional.
• Prior teaching experience is advantageous.
• Must hold valid Texas Teacher Certification or be enrolled in an Uplift-designated certification program.
• All instructional candidates without current certification must apply and enroll in the Teach Us Certification Program or an approved alternative promptly upon offer acceptance.
• Continuous progress toward certification is essential to maintain employment eligibility.
• Preferred skills include effective communication, bilingual abilities (Spanish is a plus), and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and basic office technology.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The role requires the ability to maintain emotional stability under stress and occasionally endure prolonged or irregular hours. Regular physical activities include sitting, speaking, hearing, hand dexterity, standing, walking, stair use, and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds. Visual requirements include close, distance, and depth vision, with the ability to adjust focus. The work environment can vary from low to high noise levels and frequent interruptions, with distractions from staff and students.

Compensation

The starting salary for new teachers is $63,000 annually.
