Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop standards-aligned curriculum using the Understanding by Design framework, ensuring lessons are age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and designed to fully engage learners.
• Tailor lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported.
• Create both formative and summative assessments aligned with course goals and use data insights to adapt instructional plans accordingly.
• Establish classroom routines that maximize instructional time and foster conducive learning environments.
• Consistently reflect on and improve teaching methods, classroom management, and assessment strategies to boost student outcomes.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation including unit plans, lesson plans, and grading.
• Deliver curriculum content thoroughly, ensuring accessibility and developmental appropriateness for all students.
• Guide and oversee student learning through engaging and meaningful activities, regularly checking for comprehension and providing constructive feedback.
• Set and maintain high expectations regarding behavior and character through clear rules and positive reinforcement.
• Use efficient classroom procedures to optimize learning time and track student progress to inform instructional adjustments.
• Foster a classroom culture centered on achievement, respect, and high expectations.
• Collaborate with peers at content and grade levels to ensure coherence in academic habits and student mindsets.
• Contribute actively to the school's curriculum development and instructional initiatives.
• Pursue ongoing professional development goals aimed at improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement.
• Welcome feedback and constructive critique to continuously refine teaching practice.
• Engage fully in professional learning activities, meetings, conferences, and school events.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to celebrate successes or address concerns promptly.
• Promote a growth mindset among students and staff, upholding school values and commitments.
• Provide a welcoming and respectful classroom atmosphere, supporting students to take academic risks.
• Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with students, families, and colleagues based on trust and respect.
• Monitor and respond to emails twice daily and return phone messages within 24 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Minimum of one year of relevant work experience demonstrating positive student outcomes is preferred.
• Must hold a valid Texas Teaching Certificate highly qualified under NCLB standards or be accepted into an approved Alternative Certification Program with successful TEXes exam results.
• Certification appropriate for teaching Pre-K through 8th grade, including ESL Supplement, is required.

Licensing

• Generalist certification for grades 4-8.
• ESL EC-12 certification.
