About Deloitte
Joining Deloitte means becoming part of a distinguished community of professionals who prioritize impactful work. Leveraging our global network, supportive culture, inclusive environment, and advanced technology, you will have ample opportunities to grow your potential.
Internship Overview
This internship is a valuable chance for penultimate-year students to gain practical experience during their summer break, immersing themselves in the field they intend to pursue post-graduation. You will collaborate with a cohort of over 150 interns, learning via mentorship and training to develop key skills for your career.
Deloitte prioritizes innovation, including responsible AI integration to transform organizational practices. Interns participate in a two-day induction to acclimate to corporate life and expectations. The internship starts mid-November after exams, includes a three-week break over Christmas and New Year, and concludes in early February before you return for your final university year. You will be supported by a buddy and receive ongoing feedback to maximize your learning.
Role Description
As a Business Advisory intern, you will collaborate with experienced Advisors to provide small and medium enterprise clients with solutions to their business challenges. Responsibilities include offering technical accounting advice, delivering virtual CFO services, preparing financial statements and tax returns, consulting on tax matters, and management accounting.
The Business Advisory team is a sizable group of over 500 finance professionals across New Zealand, working closely with Deloitte’s Tax and other units to serve client financial needs and improve business processes.
Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate effectively with internal teams such as Tax, Strategy Risk & Transactions, and Accounting & Reporting Advisory.
Candidate Profile
- Currently enrolled in any degree program, ideally with an interest in business; Commerce majors in Accounting or Finance are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Eligibility to pursue Chartered Accountancy or CPA qualifications is common but not required; eagerness to learn business advisory skills is vital.
- Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and enthusiasm for business and numbers.
- Motivated, hardworking, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including emotional intelligence to manage client relationships and priorities.
- No prior experience necessary; part-time jobs or internships in accounting, finance, customer service, retail, or hospitality are beneficial.
Additional Requirements
- A current CV.
- An academic transcript showing recent grades, your full name, and the tertiary institution’s name.
- Legal permission to reside and work in New Zealand.
