Training Support Officer (RFOO1) - Operational Training for Tropical Coast

Role Overview

The Training Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the District training team and volunteers by coordinating, facilitating, and delivering training activities aligned with Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards and organizational audit needs. This position focuses heavily on ensuring operational volunteers receive training to enhance their ability in rural fire and emergency response operations.

Context

Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Districts provide operational and organizational support to manage rural fires, enabling on-ground staff and volunteers to focus on immediate response tasks. Districts cover volunteers and staff who handle fire management and mitigation across rural, semi-rural, and some urban fringe locations statewide.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with organizing, delivering, facilitating, and assessing volunteer training events throughout the District to ensure volunteers are equipped for their roles.
• Support the upskilling of volunteer brigade trainers in the District, strengthening volunteer training capabilities.
• Help the District training team conduct exercises testing operational readiness to boost volunteer effectiveness.
• Collect local feedback to assist ongoing improvements in training programs.

Mandatory Requirements

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience or familiarity with volunteer organizations or working alongside volunteers.
• Applicants should hold, or commit to attain within 12 months, relevant training and assessment qualifications.
