Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Assistant National Organiser role involves a mix of field-based organising initiatives and support to both Regional teams and colleagues at the UNISON Centre. This includes helping coordinate and strengthen capacity in priority organising campaigns. The position will require working both collaboratively in teams and independently in the field. The SOU regularly reviews its activities to guarantee best practices and shares key insights across the organisation. Advanced organising expertise is essential.

The post holder, while part of the Strategic Organising Unit based at the UNISON Centre, may be located at their nearest UNISON region subject to agreement. They must be prepared to work in any region as needed to support important campaigns aligned with UNISON’s strategic goals. This role reports directly to a National Organiser.

Terms and Compensation

• Employment is full-time and primarily in-person.
• Starting annual salary is £48,787, along with a £3,629 yearly subsistence allowance.
• An additional London Weighting allowance of £7,170 is payable if eligible.
