About the Role
Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Operator to join their Water & Waste Services team in Hervey Bay, Queensland. This permanent full-time position operates at Competency Level 5 to Level 8 with an annual salary range from $74,161 to $81,020 plus superannuation and additional allowances totaling $13,899. The role involves operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations while supporting community health and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants and pumping infrastructure.
- Monitor and manage treatment processes ensuring optimal plant performance.
- Respond to system alarms and operational issues utilizing SCADA and telemetry technology.
- Collect and test wastewater samples, accurately documenting operational data.
- Handle chemicals safely including dosing and storage adhering to WHS guidelines.
- Participate in on-call and weekend rotations when required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Certificate III in Water Operations (Wastewater Treatment) or willingness to obtain within 24 months.
- Valid Queensland Class C or CA driver’s license.
- White Card (General Construction Induction) certification.
- Experience in wastewater treatment or pumping station operations.
- Ability to follow operational procedures and identify plant performance issues.
- Strong focus on workplace health and safety and safe operational practices.
- Precise record-keeping and familiarity with workplace systems.
- Good communication and teamwork capabilities.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with SCADA and telemetry systems.
- First Aid certification.
- High Risk Work Licence (e.g., forklift).
- Confined Spaces or Chemical Users certification.
