Research Associate (Biology)

Role Overview

This contract position is for a plant biology specialist working remotely from Canada. The work centers on producing research outputs that support AI training, with a focus on plant science, genetics, and cellular biology.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out in-depth study of plant biology, genetics, and cellular mechanisms for use in AI training datasets.
• Gather plant samples from a range of environments, then assess and record the findings in a structured way.
• Work with cross-functional teams to convert biological knowledge into data that can be used by AI models.
• Plan and run experiments that examine how plants respond to different environmental conditions.
• Combine biology with related concepts from chemistry and geology to improve data quality and project results.
• Write and present findings clearly in both written and spoken form, including scientific recommendations.

Candidate Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline is required; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred for more advanced research work.
• Strong command of plant biology, genetics, and molecular methods.
• Practical ability in sample collection, data interpretation, and experimental planning.
• Comfort applying knowledge from chemistry and geology in a biological research context.
• Excellent scientific writing and speaking skills.
• Prior exposure to laboratory environments and research instruments.

Compensation

The role offers pay in the range of $40 to $60 per hour.
