About the Role
Join our academic team as a dedicated Inclusion Teacher (Special Educational Needs) at our school in Doha, Qatar. This permanent position reports to the Head of Inclusion and focuses on delivering individualized, high-quality education to students with additional learning needs within a supportive and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead an Inclusion classroom, adapting teaching methods, materials, and activities to accommodate diverse developmental and learning profiles.
- Utilize evidence-based SEN teaching strategies to foster student engagement, independence, communication, and social skills.
- Create and maintain a structured, positive, and supportive learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate closely with subject teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive education is practiced throughout the school.
- Assess and monitor pupils’ progress using SEN-appropriate tools, including observations and formal assessments, keeping detailed records on progress, behavior, and interventions.
- Use assessment data to inform instructional plans and adjust teaching techniques to promote meaningful student growth.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring targets are embedded into daily classroom activities.
- Adapt curriculum content and evaluations to be accessible to all students, addressing various cognitive, physical, emotional, and language needs.
- Work alongside therapists such as speech and language, occupational, and behavior specialists to incorporate therapeutic recommendations into classroom routines.
- Advocate for students with SEND, nurturing a culture of inclusion, empathy, and respect school-wide.
- Engage in professional development in SEN methodologies, behavior support, and inclusive teaching, continuously reflecting on and improving practices.
- Implement behavior management strategies aligned with departmental policies to promote confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related area.
- Preferred training or certification specifically in SEN.
- Teaching qualification recognized by the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE).
- Willingness to complete Child Protection and Safeguarding training if not already obtained.
- At least 3 years’ experience working with SEND students in educational settings.
- Experience managing small or adapted learning groups preferred.
- Experience in international or multicultural school environments is advantageous.
