Role Overview
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be joining Notion's inaugural engineering internship cohort, embarking on a 12-week program from September 14 to December 4, 2026. You will work onsite in our San Francisco office, collaborating closely with a mentor and team members to build AI Native projects that create significant benefits for our users and engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clean, secure, well-tested, and well-documented code.
- Contribute to the enhancement and design of Notion's products with an AI-first perspective.
- Engage in software development across the full stack including web services, databases, applications, and tools, leveraging modern frameworks and technologies.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, with graduation expected before Summer 2027.
- Prior internship experience in a relevant field.
- Progressing towards proficiency in programming languages such as Typescript, Node.js, or Python.
- Driven by a passion for tackling large challenges and an eagerness to identify and resolve problems.
- Adaptable and capable of problem-solving within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Available to commit to the internship period onsite in San Francisco from September 14 to December 4, 2026.
Desired Skills
- Strong interest and experience in AI, including building or prototyping with Large Language Models (LLMs), Embeddings, or Machine Learning.
- Analytical thinker who approaches challenges methodically and can work independently or collaboratively to find clear solutions.
- User-focused mindset that considers the broader implications and impacts of the software being developed.
- Flexible and open-minded about technology choices, valuing tradeoffs and continuous learning.
- Effective communicator capable of conveying complex ideas clearly, engaging constructively in discussions, and valuing diverse perspectives.

Compensation and Commitment
Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. For this internship based in San Francisco, compensation is estimated at $57 per hour for Bachelor's degree candidates and $61 per hour for Master’s degree candidates.
