Role Summary

Glencore Australia's Copper Refinery in Townsville is looking for two qualified Electricians to serve as Shift Refinery Maintainers. This part-time role operates on a 4-on, 4-off schedule, with 12-hour day shifts, balancing demanding work with the ability to return home daily. You will collaborate with frontline teams to reinforce safe work practices, enhance processes, and promote a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical maintenance tasks to meet maintenance and production objectives within a team setting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical faults, respond to breakdowns, and complete corrective repairs.
  • Carry out electrical installations and project-related work across refinery equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations and site safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with operational and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement efforts.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a trade-certified Electrician holding a current Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence. You should be safety-conscious, adaptable to rotating shifts including day and night, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. A proactive work ethic and commitment to high-quality standards in a safety-sensitive environment are essential. Experience and qualifications in instrumentation or industrial process control will be highly valued.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Trade qualification as an Electrician with Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence.
  • Strong commitment to safety and fostering a robust safety culture.
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and excellent work ethics.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation (preferred).
  • Experience with fixed plant maintenance, automated machinery, industrial process control, and instrumentation calibration (desirable).
  • Familiarity with LV motor control, variable speed drives (VVVF), and HV switchgear (desirable).
