Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to lead essential accounting functions, oversee financial reporting, and ensure statutory compliance. This position demands maintaining precise financial records, driving timely monthly and annual closes, and supporting both auditing processes and management reporting. The ideal candidate will possess robust accounting expertise, meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to function autonomously in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting duties including preparation and entry of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and intercompany ledger items, promptly resolving any discrepancies.
- Manage fixed asset records encompassing additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable activities, conduct aging analyses and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing tasks ensuring the punctual and accurate preparation of financial statements aligned with IFRS and internal policies.
- Generate financial reports at monthly, quarterly, and annual intervals, including performing variance analysis versus budgets and previous periods.
- Assist with management reports, cash flow forecasting, and budget preparation.
- Prepare and maintain documentation and support schedules for all balance sheet items.
- Serve as a primary liaison during external and internal audits by providing necessary schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements, including timely tax filings and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain compliance with internal financial policies, control mechanisms, and authorization frameworks.
- Identify and introduce enhancements to accounting procedures, systems, and automation to improve accuracy and efficiency in financial close activities.
- Participate in ERP system implementations or upgrades to bolster financial reporting capabilities.
- Support the formulation and documentation of accounting policies and operational procedures.
- Mentor and review the work conducted by junior accounting personnel, offering guidance and technical support.
- Collaborate with departments such as procurement, operations, and treasury on finance-related concerns.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; a Master’s degree would be advantageous.
- Professional accounting certification like ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent preferred.
- At least five years of progressive experience in comprehensive accounting and financial closing processes.
- In-depth understanding of IFRS standards and statutory compliance obligations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, with Oracle Fusion knowledge considered a plus, alongside advanced Excel capabilities.
- Experience working within multinational corporations or large enterprises highly regarded.
