Role Overview
The Publicity Assistant plays a vital role within the Fremantle UK press office, supporting publicity efforts across multiple labels. This role combines public relations assistance with administrative and organizational duties to ensure efficient office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Communications with various communication needs.
- Support the UK publicity team in executing program campaign tasks and basic publicity functions.
- Deliver comprehensive administrative assistance to the publicity department for smooth daily operations.
- Maintain and update the Fremantle UK website and provide aid to label website ‘web champions’.
- Regularly create and post fresh content to Fremantle UK's social media channels.
- Handle all award submissions for Fremantle UK and its labels.
- Serve as the initial contact point for press office inquiries, managing routine questions and directing others as necessary.
- Compose program billings, press releases, and press materials to support publicity efforts.
- Compile and manage press assets, including publicity stills, preview/review clips, promotional materials, and press updates.
- Collaborate with social media and digital teams to coordinate cohesive external communications aligned with publicity campaigns.
- Establish and sustain effective communication with production contacts and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain processes and systems ensuring efficient press office functioning.
- Manage press cuttings distribution and filing relevant to assigned programs.
- Oversee show images, including downloading, captioning, packaging, and liaising with network picture desks.
- Distribute press releases, packs, and information as needed.
- Keep media contact and personnel databases current.
- Arrange travel and accommodation for the publicity team, talent, and contestants as required.
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Communications and aid with IT and office queries.
- Support coordination of publicity events, appearances, launches, and company social events.
- Write web copy, ensure updated images, and respond to website-related inquiries.
- Work closely with the internal communications team to support relevant updates.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven experience engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the capability to manage independent projects.
- Experience supporting events of varying sizes and scopes.
- Comprehensive understanding of print and broadcast media.
- Sound knowledge of the media sector and TV production workflows.
- Proficient IT skills with advanced expertise in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat; Photoshop proficiency is a plus.
- Experience with editing software and content creation is desirable.
- Existing or ability to cultivate relationships with bloggers and influencers.
- Familiarity with social analytics tools to measure reach and impact beyond traditional metrics is preferred.
