Payroll Officer

Role overview

This position is for meticulous Payroll Officers who can manage payroll from start to finish across a range of industries. The role centres on making sure employees are paid correctly and on schedule, while payroll records remain accurate and compliant.

The work calls for a careful approach, strong discretion when handling sensitive information, and a mindset focused on improving processes over time.

Key responsibilities

• Run complete payroll cycles accurately and within the required deadlines.
• Keep employee payroll details current and maintain orderly records.
• Work out pay, overtime, allowances, deductions, and leave entitlements.
• Apply the correct rules under payroll laws, awards, enterprise agreements, and tax obligations.
• Handle superannuation payments and PAYG requirements.
• Match payroll balances, complete reconciliations, and produce payroll reporting.
• Deal with employee payroll questions and correct any pay issues or mismatches.
• Support payroll audits and compliance checks.
• Partner with HR and Finance to improve payroll accuracy and operational efficiency.

Experience and skills

Ideal candidates will already have payroll administration or payroll processing experience and a solid working understanding of Australian payroll compliance. A high level of precision, strong organisation, and the ability to work to strict deadlines are essential.

Applicants should be comfortable using payroll platforms and Microsoft Excel, and should bring strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Experience with SAP SuccessFactors (ECP) is specifically mentioned as valuable.
