We are currently seeking a dependable and hands-on Facilities Security Team Member to ensure smooth, secure operations at our North Island Distribution Centre.

Role Overview

This physically engaging and diverse position plays a vital role in managing core facilities operations. The successful candidate will be tasked with safeguarding the site while assisting with day-to-day operational and contractor-related duties. Responsibilities include overseeing site access and issuing necessary permits, forklift operation, performing inspections, and collaborating within a close-knit team that ensures the Distribution Centre functions seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issuing work permits, including hot work permits, for internal and external contractors
  • Reviewing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), ensuring contractor compliance with health and safety standards
  • Managing site security through duties such as gatehouse operations, CCTV surveillance, and perimeter inspections
  • Conducting daily facility checks and reporting maintenance requirements
  • Performing line marking on roadways and internal DC zones
  • Supporting departments with bin collection, truck loading, and site logistics
  • Operating forklifts and material handling equipment to assist logistics and recycling activities
  • Handling cardboard and polystyrene baling as part of sustainability efforts
  • Contributing to general facilities maintenance tasks as needed

Working Hours

The role requires working Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Between 3 and 5 years’ experience in a facilities-related role
  • Proven ability to issue work and hot work permits
  • Familiarity with working at heights and associated safety procedures
  • Knowledge of building Warrant of Fitness (WOF) processes and compliance regulations
  • Experience supervising contractors and ensuring adherence to health and safety policies
  • A proactive mindset with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills for inspection logging, permit review, and reporting

Preferred Attributes

  • Possession of an MHE license or willingness to acquire one
  • Experience operating CCTV systems and Building Management Systems (BMS)
