About the Role

Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lawson Sales is seeking a full-time, permanent Yard Person. This role involves preparing agricultural and heavy equipment along with attachments and accessories for delivery to sales teams, customers, or the service department. The ideal candidate will have skills in safely operating and maneuvering equipment for loading and unloading from transport trailers.

Primary Duties

• Load and offload equipment for customers and vendors efficiently and securely.
• Ensure all equipment is properly secured as per company protocols; perform transit inspections if needed.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment by cleaning, servicing, and performing minor repairs and painting.
• Operate power washing equipment to clean machines before and after servicing.
• Receive incoming shipments, verify orders, and confirm inventory records are updated.
• Assist in assembling equipment based on customer orders, including attaching accessories and decals.
• Keep the work area organized and stocked with necessary supplies such as service tags and fuel.
• Work independently across multiple projects according to scheduling demands.
• Manage and organize equipment staging areas efficiently.
• Prepare, maintain, and file Bills of Lading for all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Transport equipment and parts safely to their destinations, including operating pilot vehicles when required.
• Contribute to general facility operations as needed.
• Strictly follow all safety guidelines, maintain a clean and orderly workplace, and participate proactively in safety programs.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing and footwear.
• Maintain a professional personal appearance consistent with company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent credential is required.
• Experience in equipment handling, automotive, or industrial settings is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to load/unload equipment safely and secure loads properly for transportation.
• Capability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage workflow across various tasks as scheduled.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Competency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
• Completion of driver log training is necessary.
• Possession of a clear driving record is mandatory.
• Reliable personal transportation is essential as public transit is unavailable to the location.
