About the Company
John Ross & Sons Ltd., a fifth-generation, family-owned company, stands as the largest scrap metal recycler in Atlantic Canada, operating for over 80 years. They specialize in buying and processing both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals along with a variety of recyclable materials.
Position Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and safety-conscious General Laborers to join our night shift crew at the Goodwood, Nova Scotia facility. This physical role includes sorting, organizing, and inventory maintenance to facilitate safe and effective operations.
Primary Duties
- Accurately sort and handle different materials
- Organize and maintain inventory systematically
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of work zones
- Function well both individually and within a team
- Perform tasks in various weather conditions as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in heavy lifting and general labor preferred
- Capability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to consistently use full personal protective equipment (PPE) during shifts
- Strong focus on safety
- Clear communication skills
- Comfortable working in all types of weather
Work Schedule and Location
The shifts run Monday to Friday from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, with additional Saturday hours from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM as required. This position is based in Goodwood, Nova Scotia, requiring reliable transportation since public transit access is unavailable.
