Job description

Position Summary

This role involves performing various general maintenance and operational activities under the guidance of a Chargehand. The operative will carry out routine and cyclical tasks, respond to emergency situations as needed including out-of-hours call outs on a rota basis, and assist with winter maintenance as a secondary operator or driver’s assistant. This position also welcomes apprentices who have completed their training.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possession of a Banksman qualification
  • Proficiency in Manual Handling techniques
  • Awareness and safe use of Abrasive Wheels
  • Emergency First Aid certification
  • Safe Digging practices knowledge
  • Valid Driving License
  • CSCS card if required by client
  • Adherence to expected behaviors as defined in the company behavior matrix

Specialist Competencies

  • Application of diverse general maintenance skills
  • Understanding and performing risk assessments aligned with safe work systems
  • Ability to interpret and execute work based on specifications
  • Typically at least one year of relevant experience
  • Interest and potential in obtaining a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) license
  • Training received in health & safety awareness, risk assessment, traffic management, and use of PDA technology
  • Capability to operate small machinery and equipment, including mini excavators

Contract and Working Hours

This is a permanent contract position based in Launceston, Tasmania, with a full-time schedule of 39 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
