About Pacific Health Group and the Role

As part of the wider Pacific Health Group, the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides confidential support for employees facing work or life challenges. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join our Gisborne branch, delivering care in the supportive Pacific Health way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted interventions that help clients develop and utilise effective coping skills for workplace and personal challenges.
  • Conduct visits to worksites to offer immediate assistance following disruptive events.
  • Provide counselling sessions through various modes including in-person meetings, video calls, and telehealth platforms.
  • Deliver training programs to employees at client organisations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrates a high level of empathy and sensitivity towards others.
  • Holds current APC accreditation with New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), Drug and Alcohol Practitioners Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ), Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB), or New Zealand Counselling and Coaching Association (NZCCA).
  • Possesses a tertiary qualification at level 7 in Counselling or a related discipline with a minimum of five years post-qualification experience in general counselling.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic methods such as Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FACT) is advantageous.
  • Capable of working autonomously and available for onsite visits to provide psychological first aid.
  • Experienced in trauma intervention and delivering psychological first aid.
