Bridge Worker - South Grafton

Position Overview

Transport for NSW is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bridge Worker to join the Northern Bridges team based in South Grafton, NSW. This is a permanent full-time role focusing on labouring and maintenance tasks related to timber, steel, and concrete bridges and culverts within the district.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform manual labour and handling duties on various bridges and culverts at a sub-trade level.
• Assist in maintaining bridges, including timber, steel, and concrete structures, support other trades, and undertake painting tasks as needed.
• Work independently on both routine and complex labouring and manual handling assignments.
• Operate safely a variety of small plant equipment, powered and non-powered hand tools.
• Be prepared for travel and overnight work throughout the year and respond to after-hours call-outs.
• Work a nine-day fortnight schedule.
• Opportunity to gain skills in plant operations, formwork, falsework, concreting, and truck driving to enhance civil construction experience.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Experience as a Bridge or Road Worker Grade 3 or equivalent civil construction background.
• Hold a valid construction industry White Card.
• Possess an unrestricted NSW driver’s license.
• Willingness to obtain any required licensing or tickets per legislative or internal guidelines.
• Experience with operating small plant machinery, hand, and power tools, with enthusiasm for learning new skills on the job.
• High-risk work tickets and Medium Rigid Licence are advantageous but not mandatory as training is offered.
• Reside within a 100 km radius of the South Grafton depot due to safety and fatigue management policies.
