Job description
Position Overview
Transport for NSW is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bridge Worker to join the Northern Bridges team based in South Grafton, NSW. This is a permanent full-time role focusing on labouring and maintenance tasks related to timber, steel, and concrete bridges and culverts within the district.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual labour and handling duties on various bridges and culverts at a sub-trade level.
- Assist in maintaining bridges, including timber, steel, and concrete structures, support other trades, and undertake painting tasks as needed.
- Work independently on both routine and complex labouring and manual handling assignments.
- Operate safely a variety of small plant equipment, powered and non-powered hand tools.
- Be prepared for travel and overnight work throughout the year and respond to after-hours call-outs.
- Work a nine-day fortnight schedule.
- Opportunity to gain skills in plant operations, formwork, falsework, concreting, and truck driving to enhance civil construction experience.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Experience as a Bridge or Road Worker Grade 3 or equivalent civil construction background.
- Hold a valid construction industry White Card.
- Possess an unrestricted NSW driver’s license.
- Willingness to obtain any required licensing or tickets per legislative or internal guidelines.
- Experience with operating small plant machinery, hand, and power tools, with enthusiasm for learning new skills on the job.
- High-risk work tickets and Medium Rigid Licence are advantageous but not mandatory as training is offered.
- Reside within a 100 km radius of the South Grafton depot due to safety and fatigue management policies.
