Role Overview
The position of Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and Springhill plays a crucial role in the efficient daily functioning of the prisons. This position involves a blend of security duties, administrative tasks, and physical activities such as monitoring CCTV, supervising visitors, conducting security searches, overseeing deliveries, and escorting vehicles within prison grounds. It is a dynamic role that requires a strong capability for communication, calmness under pressure, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
As an OSG, you will contribute to the secure and smooth operation of the prison by carrying out various responsibilities including gate security, visitor supervision, phone call monitoring, and supporting vehicle movements across the premises.
Candidate Profile
No formal qualifications are necessary, but exceptional communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to remain composed in a busy environment are essential qualities. Candidates must hold a full, valid UK driving licence as driving within the prison forms a vital part of the job. Shift work including nights and weekends will be expected.
