Role Overview

Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill, located in Quainton, England. This integral position involves assisting in the smooth running of a busy prison environment through diverse responsibilities, blending administrative duties with active physical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct security screening and searches at the prison entrance.
• Manage deliveries and oversee visitor supervision.
• Monitor telephone communications and CCTV systems.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within prison grounds.
• Work a variety of shifts including nights and weekends to maintain continuous operations.

Candidate Profile

The role is suitable for individuals without formal qualifications but who possess strong communication skills, the ability to remain composed under pressure, good judgement, common sense, and excellent teamwork capabilities. A full and valid UK Driving Licence is mandatory due to driving responsibilities within the role. While contact with prisoners is generally limited, some occasional interaction may occur depending on the prison setting.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary is £29,432. Additional benefits include:

• 25 days of annual leave on joining, increasing to 30 days after 10 years' service (pro-rata basis).
