Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Bullingdon as an Operational Support Grade (OSG), where you will assist with the essential daily operations of a busy prison. The role offers a salary of £29,432 and involves diverse responsibilities including security checks, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications and CCTV.
Core Duties
- Support activities such as conducting searches and security measures at entry points.
- Handle package and freight deliveries efficiently.
- Oversee visitor supervision to maintain order and security.
- Monitor phone calls and closed-circuit television feeds.
- Perform physical tasks like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around prison grounds.
Candidate Requirements
- A full, valid UK driving licence including category D1, permitting operation of vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats, length up to 8 metres, and trailers up to 750 kg.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations.
- Good judgement, common sense, and teamwork-oriented approach.
- Willingness to work various shifts inclusive of weekends and nights.
Additional Information
No formal qualifications are necessary. The position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into prison operations with limited prisoner interaction, and can be a stepping stone towards other roles within the prison service such as the Prison Officer conversion scheme.
The prison’s rural location may mean limited public transport; a driving licence and personal transport are advantageous though not mandatory.
