Technician - API

Role Overview

The Technician position holds full responsibility for managing the designated section, working closely with Senior Welders and Machinists to boost operational efficiency while upholding quality and cost-control standards. This role involves team management including overseeing leave schedules and coordinating weekend overtime through the Workshop Coordinator, as well as ensuring availability of tools and equipment necessary for tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize the iFlight/Intranet system to submit Material Requisitions for any missing items required for jobs.
• Clarify scope of work with assigned teams, identify required or missing spares, parts, and tooling, collaborating with the Production Engineer to raise purchase requests if items are unavailable through the Material Requisition System.
• Distribute Route Sheets to team members and monitor their progress through the section of work.
• Ensure Route Sheets are signed off upon completion of operations.
• Log all faulty equipment using the Maintenance Log System.
• Conduct and organize daily Tool Box Talks to promote safety and communication.
• Administer team leave records including holidays and sick days, supporting HR Manager as required.
• Participate in annual Skills Matrix reviews with assistance from the Production Engineer or Manager.
• Perform any additional duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Over 10 years’ experience as a Technician with supervisory responsibility.
• Capability to handle technical data from numerous sources effectively.
• Strong understanding of planning and logistics methodologies.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• In-depth product knowledge including API manufacturing and repair, Roteq, oil & gas equipment, and general industrial equipment maintenance.

Experience and Education

• Between 6 and 10+ years of supervisory experience as a Technician.
• Minimum educational qualification is a Diploma in Engineering; a Degree in Engineering is preferred.
• At least two years experience in a comparable role.

Physical and Safety Requirements

• Compliance with all company and client policies on quality, safety, and environmental management is mandatory.
• All accidents, incidents, near-misses, and hazards must be reported promptly with appropriate documentation.
• Work collaboratively within the team to foster a safety culture that encourages responsibility for a safe workplace, good health, environmental sustainability, and the right to intervene as necessary.
