About AWS Infrastructure Services
AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of the entire global AWS infrastructure. This critical team supports all AWS data centers and manages all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment needed to provide customers uninterrupted access to AWS innovations.
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer with AWS Infrastructure, you will work on building and maintaining large-scale, highly available cloud services. You will engage in designing, prototyping, and testing new technology solutions while developing high-quality distributed system software. Your contributions will support millions to billions of users worldwide by enabling hyper-scale applications and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software systems.
- Investigate design options, prototype innovative technologies, and evaluate their technical feasibility.
- Write robust, high-quality distributed system software and participate in peer code reviews.
- Maintain and develop key system features ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Promote engineering best practices and drive excellence within the team.
- Provide technical guidance, set architectural principles, and mentor team members on appropriate design patterns.
- Create and review design documentation and training materials, including standard operating procedures and knowledge transfer content.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
- Strong command of algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and object-oriented design in Linux/Unix environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and delivering complex software systems to customers.
- Familiarity with full software development life cycle best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
- Knowledge of architecting and designing scalable, fault-tolerant, large distributed systems involving SQL/NoSQL technologies.
