Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Work Inspector to join our GEC Supervision team with a concentration on utility infrastructure projects. This position is vital for ensuring that all construction activities adhere strictly to quality and safety benchmarks. You will interact closely with contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to confirm that all work complies with the established plans and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate utility infrastructure construction activities to verify alignment with project specifications, contract requirements, and approved plans.
- Conduct frequent site inspections, monitor ongoing construction progress, and maintain detailed documentation of quality control efforts.
- Detect and report any deviations or non-compliant work, offering prompt feedback to involved contractors and project teams.
- Collaborate effectively with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and facilitate seamless project operations.
- Review and authorize contractor-submitted documentation including method statements, safety protocols, and quality assurance procedures.
- Implement regular safety checks to ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards on site.
- Mentor junior inspection staff and construction personnel to promote continual process improvements.
- Compile and submit comprehensive inspection reports outlining observations, recommendations, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Participate in project meetings representing quality assurance interests and provide expertise on utility infrastructure issues.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, best practices, and new technologies to optimize inspection methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 8 years’ experience in construction inspection, specifically within utility infrastructure projects.
- Extensive understanding of utility infrastructure design, construction techniques, and applicable standards.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety laws and the capability to enforce appropriate safety measures onsite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build effective relationships with contractors and project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with inspection-related tools, software, and technologies for data collection and documentation.
- Highly analytical with an aptitude for identifying potential problems and proposing realistic solutions.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Inspector II (CWII) or equivalent.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites and adapt to different environmental conditions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
