Job Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate within cross-functional engineering teams to create innovative design solutions for new aerospace seating concepts and adapt existing products to meet customer requirements worldwide. The role demands strict compliance with aerospace standards to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, timely delivery, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

Create 3D models for individual parts and full assemblies.
Develop detailed 2D part drawings and assembly schematics.
Design electrical harness routing and plan equipment layouts.
Generate 2D and interactive 3D PDFs of electrical harnesses and equipment placements.
Configure assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOM).
Manage the release of engineering documents adhering to company procedures.
Handle change management for engineering drawings according to company protocols.
Support prototyping activities within the New Product Introduction (NPI) development phase.
Offer input to design decision-making processes.
Work collaboratively within integrated project teams.
Complete assigned work packages following the project timeline.
Operate within guidelines outlined in the Design Office Handbook.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential: Degree-level qualification in engineering or a related field.
Proficient in 3D CAD modeling.
Experience in design or engineering roles.
Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Competence in IT, including Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable: Familiarity with sheet metal, machined, or vacuum-formed plastic part design and manufacturing.
Experience integrating electrical equipment and conducting layout modeling.
Knowledge of Catia V5/V6 design software.
Experience with PLM software such as Enovia or Smarteam.
