Job Overview
This role involves managing kitchen operations in a restaurant setting with responsibilities ranging from food preparation to supervising staff and coordinating events. It requires being present on-site at the physical location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate special events and manage their culinary aspects.
- Determine portion sizes and calculate food costs accurately.
- Plan menus and estimate necessary food quantities.
- Request food and kitchen supplies as needed.
- Prepare and cook full meals and individual dishes, including for customers with allergies or intolerances.
- Prepare special dietary meals following instructions from dietitians or chefs.
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas for cleanliness and compliance.
- Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking, and safety procedures.
- Order and maintain supplies and equipment inventories.
- Supervise kitchen employees and helpers effectively.
- Maintain records related to food, supplies, and equipment.
- Clean kitchen and workspace areas thoroughly.
- Recruit and hire new kitchen staff.
- Organize and manage buffets and banquet preparations.
- Oversee overall kitchen operations to ensure smooth functioning.
