About the Role
The Assistant Manager of Human Resources plays a pivotal role in supporting the HR department to deliver excellent service to both employees and management. This position assists with recruitment processes, employee relations, payroll coordination, and overall HR administration while ensuring strict adherence to hotel policies, labor laws, and brand standards. The role is instrumental in cultivating a positive and value-driven workplace environment that aligns with the hotel's standards of service excellence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Director of Human Resources and aid in crafting and implementing the HR strategy according to the Global Office’s HR direction, ensuring the objectives are successfully met.
- Ensure internal communications are strategically planned and executed so that staff receive appropriate and timely information through suitable channels and styles.
- Assist the HR Manager in managing the annual HR budget process, closely monitoring and controlling direct report profit and loss accounts.
- Support localization efforts by effectively communicating and endorsing related initiatives.
- Contribute to workforce planning consultations to optimize staffing, boost productivity, and maintain service excellence cost-effectively.
- Regularly analyze HR metrics to identify trends and advise on resource allocation accordingly alongside the Director of HR.
- Coordinate with departmental managers for manpower planning and conduct interviews for management-level vacancies.
- Oversee a professional and welcoming onboarding process to ensure new colleagues transition smoothly into their roles.
- Assist in conducting the annual HR review to maintain compliance with company standards.
- Communicate and analyze Colleague Engagement Survey (CES) results, developing and reviewing action plans to enhance employees’ work and living conditions.
- Ensure effective execution of performance management activities, facilitating feedback, participation, and development opportunities for staff.
- Manage talent management processes to fully realize the benefits of nurturing and developing internal talent pools.
- Collaborate with other Global Office properties to identify and facilitate talent mobility within the company.
- Conduct regular talent reviews to encourage career development and identify potential future leaders.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to senior and high-potential employees to strengthen relationships, foster retention, and support personal growth.
- Review and implement innovative grading and benefits frameworks that position the hotel as an employer of choice and enhance employee retention.
- Administer the departure process of employees professionally and positively to ensure a respectful offboarding experience.
- Manage dismissals fairly, consistently, and with dignity, protecting company interests while honoring employee rights.
- Carry out additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.
Experience and Educational Requirements
- A higher degree in Hotel & Hospitality Management or Human Resources.
- Possession of recognized training qualifications.
- At least 2 years of hospitality experience, either operational or support-related.
- Previous experience working in the Middle East region.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing an HR department.
- Experience working in hospitality pre-opening settings.
- Proven management experience within culturally diverse workforces.
- Expertise in managing high volume and specialist recruitment.
- Familiarity with change management within a 5-star hotel and hospitality environment.
- Proficiency with intermediate Microsoft Office applications.
- Competency in HR Management Systems (HRMS).
- Advanced business-level written and verbal English skills.
- Solid understanding of UAE Labour Law.
- Competence in HR policies and systems.
- Strong administrative capabilities combined with a high degree of confidentiality.
