Role Purpose

As a Payroll Analyst, you will play a vital role in ensuring employees in Canada and the U.S. receive accurate, timely compensation, thus strengthening organizational trust. You will manage and continuously improve payroll processes powered by SAP, collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve payroll concerns, reconcile accounts, and uphold payroll excellence.

Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee payroll processes for all Canadian and U.S. employees, ensuring punctual and precise payments.
• Comply rigorously with company policies and relevant government regulations, maintaining payroll records and reports.
• Investigate and resolve payroll anomalies by gathering and analyzing pertinent data.
• Confirm accurate payroll execution by reconciling earnings, deductions, and net pay, while meeting strict deadlines.
• Validate financial postings, oversee and address banking transactions or payment failures, and liaise with banks to ensure smooth payroll operations.
• Monitor the Crew Management Application (CMA) interface to verify wage accuracy for Running Trade Employees (RTEs), making corrections and reprocessing payments as required.
• Process and reconcile third-party payments including taxes, union dues, and garnishments with adherence to compliance, precision, and deadlines.
• Assist with year-end payroll processes and ensure payroll tax filings are completed accurately.
• Deliver excellent customer service by promptly addressing employee payroll inquiries and issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent payroll experience; certifications like Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), or progress towards them, are advantageous.
• Minimum of two years experience managing full cycle payroll using SAP or comparable payroll software.
• Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation and procedures, ideally with experience covering both Canadian and U.S. payroll environments.

Additional Information

The role is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or Kansas City, Missouri, with potential location changes dependent on business needs. Opportunities exist to participate in a Management Conductor Program requiring or maintaining certification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
