About the Role and Organization
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) under Shared Health leads the coordination and integration of patient-focused clinical and preventive health services in Manitoba, also providing province-wide support and centralized administrative functions. This permanent, full-time Payroll Clerk position reports to the Manager of Financial Services, Medical Remuneration and is located at the Shared Health office in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It primarily manages payroll operations relating to medical remuneration across WRHA and Shared Health facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily payroll activities including preparation, processing, and auditing of regular and off-cycle medical remuneration payments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws, collective agreements, independent contracts, non-union rules, and internal policies.
- Serve as a key liaison among the Provincial Medical Administration Office, SAP payroll administrators, Legal, University of Manitoba, benefits providers, and other relevant bodies.
- Assist the Manager in communicating payroll procedures to staff, managers, and timekeepers, maintaining adherence to collective agreements and payroll practices.
- Collaborate in developing and testing new or revised payroll procedures as required.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma meeting Manitoba standards and post-secondary coursework in computerized accounting or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency or experience with accounting and payroll systems, particularly SAP and Crystal Reports, is advantageous.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and independent employment contracts is preferred.
- Typing speed of 50 words per minute.
- Strong interpersonal and English communication skills with the ability to handle confidential, sensitive payroll issues professionally.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.

Working Conditions and Terms
- This position is offered as a term role to cover a maternity leave with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026, lasting indefinitely until the incumbent returns.
- Standard hours are 7.75 hours per day, 2015 hours annually, working primarily daytime shifts.
- The work arrangement is hybrid with current remote work partially due to the pandemic but subject to change.
- Employment necessitates satisfactory checks including criminal records, vulnerable sector, and abuse registries.
