About the Role
Join Unite Students as a Safety Team Member on the night shift in Portsmouth. In this permanent role, you will work 42.5 hours across 5 nights weekly, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Your aim will be to maintain a secure, comfortable, and supportive environment for students, ensuring they feel safe and welcomed throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the friendly initial point of contact for students seeking assistance or reassurance overnight.
- Conduct safety patrols and respond calmly to incidents such as fire alarms, noise disturbances, or maintenance issues.
- Foster a welcoming, respectful atmosphere treating everyone with professionalism and empathy.
- Coordinate with day and night teams to ensure smooth shift handovers and continuity of service.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of communal spaces.
- Support students’ wellbeing by recognizing concerns and taking appropriate action.
- Represent the brand by embodying the CARE values: Connect, Act, Respect, and Encourage.
Candidate Profile
A strong mindset is valued more than a traditional background. Key qualities include eagerness to learn, problem-solving ability, and a dedication to supporting students. Experience in customer service or residential settings is beneficial but not essential; the ability to connect and foster a safe environment is paramount.
