Job Overview
As a Manager of Global Technology, you will lead and mentor a multifaceted engineering team, fostering an environment conducive to delivering outstanding work through clear goals, meaningful one-on-one interactions, career guidance, and knowledge exchange. This position demands hands-on technical leadership, overseeing design, code quality, testing, automation, documentation, operational readiness, and production support, ensuring a balance between feature development, technical debt, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineers via regular feedback, clear expectations, and career development discussions.
- Create and cultivate an inclusive and high-trust team culture promoting respect and high performance.
- Support team expansion, knowledge sharing, and talent pipeline development.
- Own team deliverables, ensuring quality work that drives measurable business outcomes.
- Facilitate planning, estimation, and delivery using pragmatic agile methodologies and disciplinary rigor.
- Identify and remove obstacles, manage workloads, and maintain sustainable team velocity while supporting retention.
- Collaborate closely with Technical Product Managers and stakeholders to maintain clear, prioritized, and actionable backlogs.
- Participate actively in technical conversations, design and code reviews, contributing code when it enhances delivery or team learning.
- Uphold engineering standards across automation, testing, documentation, security, reliability, and operational maintenance.
- Balance efforts between addressing technical debt, operational burdens, and delivering new features ensuring long-term maintainability.
- Engage in software design decisions within defined architectural frameworks.
- Maintain awareness of interdependent systems to mitigate risks and safeguard service quality.
- Minimize key-person dependency through documentation, cross-training, clean coding, and effective knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with product managers, architects, business partners, and peer teams to align technical direction and priorities.
- Handle diverse viewpoints, resolve conflicts constructively, and drive priorities forward.
- Communicate technical trade-offs clearly and accessibly to all stakeholders.
- Lead retrospectives and foster continuous process improvements.
Modern Engineering & AI Assistance
The role promotes responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to enhance efficiency, code quality, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting, while respecting data privacy, intellectual property rights, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
- Robust professional background in software development with credible hands-on programming and code review capability.
- Proven experience managing, coaching, or leading software engineering teams.
- Capacity to lead diverse teams, mediate working styles, and nurture an inclusive, trust-filled environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of software design, testing, continuous integration/deployment, operational maintenance, and reliability.
- Expertise in agile project management including work planning, prioritization, dependency handling, and delivering results.
- Excellent communication skills capable of translating technical choices and risks into understandable terms for varied audiences.
- Customer-focused attitude, strong sense of ownership, sound judgment, and ability to drive projects in complex and ambiguous environments.
