Role Overview
Join the Fairwinds care home located in Rotherham as a Maintenance Operative, where you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This permanent full-time position requires 40 hours of work per week with a pay rate of £13.77 per hour. Your daily duties will involve ensuring all fabric, fixtures, fittings, and equipment are well-maintained and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decorating and redecoration tasks as assigned to maintain pleasant surroundings
- Support emergency procedures including evacuations and fire drills; conduct weekly fire safety inspections
- Carry out PAT testing on electrical devices to ensure safety compliance
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with external contractors
- Maintain and ensure the efficient operation of plant machinery and utility installations such as gas, electrical, oil, and water systems
- Conduct routine maintenance and regulatory safety inspections as outlined in the maintenance manual
- Uphold health and safety standards for yourself, residents, team members, contractors, and visitors
- Handle equipment and chemicals safely during maintenance activities
- Maintain a valid driving license and be prepared for emergency call-outs
- Execute electrical, plumbing, and joinery repair and maintenance tasks
- Comply with the requirement for an enhanced DBS check
