Food Service Worker

Overview

The Food Service Worker role at Brightshores Health System, located in Owen Sound, Ontario, involves preparing and delivering safe, high-quality meals to patients. This full-time position is a direct replacement under the OPSEU – Service union and reports to the Food Services Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food that meets safety and quality standards to patients.

Qualification Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid Food Handler Certificate.
• Capable of comprehending and following both written and verbal instructions, with testing where applicable.
• Basic arithmetic skills, tested if necessary.
• Ability to correctly lift and carry weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds, evaluated via practical testing.
• Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Comply with Public Health and Food Premises – Health Protection and Promotion Act standards concerning safe food handling.
• Fulfill physical requirements including prolonged standing, frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and the pushing or pulling of retherming and support carts.
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to work all scheduled shifts.
• Maintain a recent record demonstrating satisfactory performance and attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in institutional food service settings is advantageous.

Compensation and Employment Details

• Hourly wage range: $26.426 to $27.085.
• Full-time status, onsite work in Owen Sound, Ontario.
• Union affiliation with OPSEU – Service.
