Overview

The Food Service Worker role at Brightshores Health System, located in Owen Sound, Ontario, involves preparing and delivering safe, high-quality meals to patients. This full-time position is a direct replacement under the OPSEU – Service union and reports to the Food Services Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve food that meets safety and quality standards to patients.

Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Possession of a valid Food Handler Certificate.
Capable of comprehending and following both written and verbal instructions, with testing where applicable.
Basic arithmetic skills, tested if necessary.
Ability to correctly lift and carry weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds, evaluated via practical testing.
Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Comply with Public Health and Food Premises – Health Protection and Promotion Act standards concerning safe food handling.
Fulfill physical requirements including prolonged standing, frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and the pushing or pulling of retherming and support carts.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Willingness to work all scheduled shifts.
Maintain a recent record demonstrating satisfactory performance and attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in institutional food service settings is advantageous.

Compensation and Employment Details

Hourly wage range: $26.426 to $27.085.
Full-time status, onsite work in Owen Sound, Ontario.
Union affiliation with OPSEU – Service.
