Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with a solid background in banking to join our team in Sydney for a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in data analytics, transformation projects, and a strong command of analytical tools and methodologies relevant to the banking industry.
Key Responsibilities and Experience
- Deliver comprehensive data analytics support within large-scale transformation, regulatory, or technology enhancement programs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Conduct source-to-target mapping, data profiling, reconciliation, and thoroughly analyze end-to-end business processes and data flows.
- Work with Teradata platforms and possess experience related to consumer and business banking products and services.
- Understand data structures, state models, data lineage, and apply statistical analysis methods effectively.
- Ensure data quality dimensions including completeness, validity, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, integrity, reliability, and timeliness are integrated into analytical workflows.
- Produce detailed documentation such as data dictionaries, test cases, reconciliation logic, and operating model guides.
- Write clean, modular, and optimized SQL scripts adhering to engineering standards and industry best practices.
- Utilize version control tools like Git or Bitbucket efficiently, embracing branching strategies, code reviews, and pull requests.
- Collaborate within agile teams alongside Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Engineers, and subject matter experts to drive project success.
Qualifications and Mindset
- Minimum of 5 years experience in data analysis, business analysis, or related fields.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Statistics/Mathematics, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline; professional certifications are advantageous.
- Exhibit a curious, proactive attitude with strong ownership, taking initiative to identify risks and enhance outcomes.
- Able and comfortable to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with shifting priorities.
- Demonstrate a positive, collaborative approach, actively sharing knowledge and fostering a strong delivery culture within the team.
