Role Overview

The Bid Estimator will prepare precise, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates and tender proposals for electrical compliance projects. This position is pivotal in driving business growth by interpreting tender documents, evaluating project risks, securing supplier and subcontractor quotes, and developing detailed pricing that meets company goals and client needs.

The role collaborates with Operations, Commercial, Procurement, and Bid Teams to ensure compliant and profitable submissions delivered within deadlines. The successful candidate will own the commercial bid process for electrical compliance, planned maintenance, and building contracts, managing everything from opportunity assessment to final tender submission. Ensuring bids are robust, technically compliant, and strategically advantageous is essential.

Responsibilities

The Bid Estimator will serve as the commercial lead in bid preparations, challenging assumptions, making informed commercial decisions, and coordinating with internal teams and supply chain partners to ensure pricing aligns with project risks and company objectives.

Requirements

• Proven background in estimating or commercial roles within electrical, compliance, construction, or planned/reactive building sectors
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical and building service compliance and relevant regulations
• Experience in creating cost estimates and tender submissions
• Strong numerical and analytical capability
• Commercially astute with knowledge of profitability factors
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
• Excellent organizational abilities managing multiple deadlines
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Familiarity with Schedule of Rates pricing, such as NHF or equivalents
