Role Overview

We are looking to hire an Aquatics Assistant for our Portlaoise location. This position involves engaging with customers, ensuring high standards of pet care particularly for fish and aquatic systems, and supporting store operations related to aquatic pets.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively interact with customers, offering tailored advice within the aquatics section and the broader sales floor, while assisting in maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment.
• Provide expert consultations to customers to help them care responsibly for their pets; act as an advocate for responsible pet ownership and train the wider team to uphold these standards even in your absence.
• Maintain the well-being of aquatic pets by ensuring they are correctly fed, housed, and cared for according to their specific needs, while keeping tanks and aquatic systems clean and adhering to all hygiene and regulatory standards.
• Manage the arrival of new aquatic pets by conducting health checks, providing appropriate accommodations, and completing all necessary documentation in compliance with legal and company protocols.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience and knowledge in fish keeping and maintaining aquatic systems.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and national public holidays.
• Strong communication abilities and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
• A genuine passion for animals and eagerness to deepen knowledge in aquatics.
