Job description

Overview

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a dedicated Service Manager to join the Levin District Court team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Manager, Justice Services for Manawatu & Wairarapa, this leadership position focuses on coaching and supporting staff to enhance their capabilities and foster a culture of high performance. The Service Manager will oversee service delivery to ensure operational quality and consistency across their team and the broader Service Delivery Area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve performance targets while emphasizing the value of their roles within the organization.
  • Support and coach employees to build a culture centered on high standards, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage operations effectively, ensuring service delivery aligns with organizational goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with internal colleagues, external stakeholders, and the Judiciary.
  • Drive standardization and consistency in service processes underpinned by respect, integrity, service, and excellence.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven operational management background with experience leading teams in dynamic environments.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, particularly in motivating staff and driving change.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting and implementing process or business changes.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Resilience and confidence in managing public-facing responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport and influence others positively.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $99,208 and $135,539 annually, with the precise salary dependent on skills and experience.
