About Seamen's Bank and Role Overview
Seamen's Bank, located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is a community-focused financial institution with approximately $500 million in assets and a rich heritage spanning 175 years. The Bank is poised for strategic growth, focusing on financial strength, expanding its customer base, and deepening community impact. The President & CEO will lead this transition, ensuring the Bank balances profitability and community service with deep local engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Bank's long-term vision and strategic objectives in partnership with the Board and senior management, promoting clear communication throughout the organization.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the senior management team, actively participate in policy development and committee work, and assess team performance.
- Anticipate emerging challenges and proactively create strategies to manage them, serving as chief liaison between the Board and management.
- Foster a positive organizational culture valuing transparency, open communication, innovation, and staff engagement without fear.
- Lead the Bank's business performance initiatives, overseeing operations of a 75-member staff, enhancing efficiency, and embracing innovative technologies.
- Manage balance sheet strategies, investment and capital portfolios, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
- Maintain and improve operational areas including lending, deposits, credit services, and security protocols.
- Represent the Bank as its primary community ambassador, cultivating relationships with customers, officials, and organizations to enhance reputation and market reach.
- Lead and guide activities related to the Bank's charitable foundation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable banking laws and regulatory standards, manage risks effectively, and oversee audits and examinations.
- Respond decisively to financial or operational crises with calm, clear communication and effective problem-solving.
- Maintain frequent communication with the Board on strategic, operational, and policy matters, championing professionalism and excellence throughout the institution.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of advanced experience in banking or financial services with proven executive leadership and team development skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline.
- Strong competencies in business strategy, financial management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities, with profound integrity and ethical standards.
- Valid US driver's license required.
- Willingness to reside on or near the Mid to Outer Cape for accessibility and community involvement.
Physical and Work Environment Demands
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods working on a computer and possess close vision capabilities.
- Occasional lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds.
- Extended working hours and capability to handle high-pressure situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to stand and move around various community locations as required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $295,000 to $395,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
