Role Overview
As an In-Home Support (IHS) Mentor based in Wakefield, MA, you will play a critical role in empowering individuals by teaching life and social skills within their home and community settings. The position offers flexible hours ranging from 10 to 25 hours weekly, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, with an hourly pay rate of $20.
Key Responsibilities
- Empower individuals to manage and exercise control over their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Work directly with individuals to achieve their ISP goals.
- Support with daily living activities as needed.
- Engage with individuals and their families to gather input and respond appropriately.
- Assist individuals in advocating for their needs and preferences.
- Support individuals’ rights to make decisions, choices, and assume risks.
- Monitor overall health, nutrition, social well-being, and general welfare.
- Assist with assessments and complete related paperwork as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is required; three years preferred.
- Strong passion and dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Must successfully pass background and reference checks.
