Role Overview
We are looking for a dependable and detail-focused Legal Assistant who has hands-on experience with Clio, a widely used legal case management platform. This role supports attorneys and paralegals by managing administrative duties, client communications, and workflow coordination. Ideal candidates thrive in structured settings, are highly organized, and enjoy supporting a cohesive legal team. Responsibilities include maintaining case files, aiding client intake, scheduling, and billing management. As part of our remote team, you will work closely with seasoned legal experts and benefit from the support of Equivity’s operations and leadership teams, fostering your success and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year experience as a legal administrative assistant, legal assistant, or litigation support professional
- Practical expertise using Clio in legal contexts
- Completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent education
- Availability for at least 20 hours per week initially
- Capable of independent work and managing multiple legal cases simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
- Preferred use of a Windows-based computer
- Ability to respond within one hour during typical working hours (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain legal cases in Clio or similar systems, including updating contacts, notes, tasks, and documents
- Facilitate client intake by scheduling consultations, preparing engagement agreements, and collecting necessary documents and information
- Coordinate calendars, meetings, deadlines, and monitor milestones to keep cases progressing on time
- Maintain task lists and workflows to support case management
- Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and provide updates
- Assist with billing by logging time, preparing invoices, and performing related administrative support
- Organize, upload, and manage legal documents within firm systems
- Manage email correspondence, draft routine communications, and direct messages appropriately
- Follow up on pending tasks to ensure case progress
- Provide operational support by maintaining organized systems and assisting with daily practice activities
