Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Calculate quantities by interpreting drawings, conducting site measurements, and reviewing project specifications.
- Develop detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) along with comprehensive cost estimates.
- Assess material requirements, labor, and other expenses related to projects.
- Analyze technical documents including drawings and specifications to ensure precise cost forecasts.
- Collaborate with Design, Projects, Procurement, Production, and Accounts teams to gather costing inputs.
- Request, review, and compare quotations provided by vendors and suppliers.
- Create budgets for projects, perform cost comparisons, and conduct rate analyses.
- Update and manage databases containing material rates, supplier quotations, and costing information.
- Support cost control efforts by comparing estimated costs with actual expenditures of projects.
- Participate in site visits and client meetings as necessary to better understand project requirements and cost estimations.
- Submit accurate cost estimates punctually while ensuring profitability.
- Maintain complete records of costing documentation and financial accounts.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Possesses between 1 to 5 years of experience in costing, estimation, BOQ preparation, or quantity surveying, ideally within interior fit-outs, furniture manufacturing, construction, or similar sectors.
- Demonstrates solid understanding of materials, production or execution processes, and principles of costing.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel software.
- Exhibits strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and collaboratively within teams.
