Job description
About the Role
As a Component Repair Technician specializing in chemical cleaning, you will be responsible for executing various chemical processing tasks that support the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of aerospace engine components. GE Aerospace’s Singapore facility is a leading site for advanced aerospace innovation, utilizing smart factory solutions and handling a significant portion of the company's global repair efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate equipment and carry out processes such as chemical cleaning, stripping, plating, tumbling, plastisol injection, and grit blasting on engine components.
- Maintain accurate production and process records in log books during each production cycle.
- Perform laboratory checks on chemicals to ensure solutions adhere to required specifications.
- Assist with regular tank cleaning and replenish or prepare chemical mixtures as needed.
- Complete routine inspections in line with maintenance requirements and promote a safe work environment.
- Monitor and control chemical processes, taking care to prevent overheating or unsafe conditions.
- Utilize hoists to safely move and handle parts within the chemical cleaning area.
- Participate actively in safety initiatives, including acting as part of the Chemical Spill Response Team.
- Uphold strong housekeeping and scheduled maintenance standards throughout the work area.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with at least GCE ‘O’ level qualifications.
- NITEC/Higher NITEC in Chemical Process Technology or a Diploma in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Familiarity with chemical or plating operations and the ability to use related equipment such as grit blasting machines.
- Competency in conducting laboratory analyses, including titration, use of X-ray and fluorescent techniques, UV-visible spectrophotometry, auto-titration, and pH/solution level control systems.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret manufacturing and operational procedures in English.
- A disciplined, safety-focused approach to following standard operating and quality procedures.
