Business Analyst

About the Role

Tekgence Inc is seeking a seasoned Senior Business Analyst to support various IT and Security Services projects in Calgary, Alberta. This contract position requires a versatile professional comfortable working with diverse technology domains and capable of translating business needs into detailed, actionable requirements. The role demands collaboration with both technical and business stakeholders to craft solutions that meet strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business and IT stakeholders to collect, analyze, and document requirements related to IT and security projects.
• Lead workshops, interviews, and process mapping exercises to capture current and desired business processes.
• Convert business needs into comprehensive functional/non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Partner with project managers, solution architects, and technical teams to ensure precise understanding and delivery of requirements.
• Assist in evaluating and selecting technology solutions, vendors, and implementation methods.
• Participate in design assessments, testing phases, and verification to confirm business needs are fulfilled.
• Develop and maintain project documentation such as business cases, process manuals, and implementation roadmaps.
• Identify and document associated risks, dependencies, and change impacts affecting business processes and IT systems.
• Serve as a key liaison between business units and IT throughout project duration to maintain alignment.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 10 years of progressive experience in IT, with a minimum of 7 years dedicated to business analysis supporting complex IT projects.
• Demonstrated expertise across multiple sectors including cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud technologies, enterprise applications, and IT operations.
• Deep knowledge of business analysis methodologies and frameworks such as BABOK, Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid models.
• CBAP certification or equivalent is preferred; additional credentials like PMP or ITIL are advantageous.
• Proven aptitude in leading requirements gathering efforts on large or multifaceted projects.
• Exceptional skills in communication, facilitation, and managing stakeholders effectively.
• Strong analytical ability, problem-solving prowess, and well-developed documentation skills.
• Experience in regulated or utility sectors is considered a plus.
