Overview

The Bioinformatician I will play a key role in supporting translational and clinical research within an Immune Monitoring Center by analyzing multifaceted immunologic datasets derived from various diseases, tissues, and patient cohorts. This position involves close collaboration with immunologists, clinicians, laboratory scientists, and computational researchers to analyze immune-cell populations, regulatory programs, and tissue-specific immune responses.

Key Duties

  • Manage the full analytical workflow for bulk, single-cell, multiomic, and spatial sequencing data including initial processing, quality control, integration, and biological interpretation.
  • Analyze immune-cell composition and functional states focusing on transcriptional profiles, immune activation/exhaustion, regulatory mechanisms, cellular diversity, and identification of disease-associated immune and inflammatory signatures and biomarkers across patient samples.
  • Integrate diverse data types including molecular, spatial, clinical, and experimental datasets spanning tissues, disease stages, and treatment groups to uncover immune mechanisms and characteristics of tissue microenvironments.
  • Collaborate extensively with wet-lab scientists, clinicians, immunologists, and pathologists to design experiments, resolve assay issues, interpret results, and address translational research questions.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible data analysis pipelines, generate reports and summaries to support ongoing projects, publications, and collaborative studies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in relevant bioinformatics or computational biology environments.
  • Proficiency with genetics or statistical analysis software and programming in environments such as Matlab, R, BioConductor, Perl, or C++.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree (Master’s) in bioinformatics, computational biology, immunology, molecular biology, genetics, or biostatistics.
  • Experience analyzing high-dimensional genomic data in biological, clinical, or translational research settings.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of molecular biology and immunology concepts.
  • Expertise interpreting genomic data relating to immune-cell markers, signaling pathways, transcriptional programs, and disease-specific biological contexts.
  • Fluency in R and Python, including single-cell data structures, analytical frameworks, and high-performance computing environments.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods commonly applied in genomic and complex biological data analyses.
  • Knowledge of genomic databases, biological data repositories, gene sets, and pathway resources.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, organizational abilities, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
