Assistant Underwriter

About the Role

IIQAF Group, situated in Dubai, UAE, is looking for a meticulous and analytical Assistant Underwriter to contribute to its expanding insurance division. The chosen candidate will aid in the underwriting process for new policies and renewals by evaluating submissions, assessing potential risks, verifying documentation, drafting reports, and ensuring adherence to both internal underwriting standards and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support underwriters in reviewing insurance applications and policy documents.
• Check insurance paperwork to confirm completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze client information including financial data and exposure to risk.
• Conduct initial risk assessments based on underwriting guidelines.
• Prepare quotations, policy schedules, endorsements, and renewals.
• Manage processing of new applications, renewals, cancellations, and policy adjustments.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date underwriting files and electronic records.
• Verify necessary supporting documents such as identity proofs, financial reports, and loss history.
• Liaise with brokers, agents, clients, and other internal teams efficiently.
• Follow up on pending underwriting requirements and missing documents.
• Ensure compliance with UAE insurance laws and company policies.
• Assist in pricing decisions by collecting underwriting and risk data.
• Help prepare underwriting reports, portfolio analyses, and performance metrics.
• Monitor timely issuance of policies to guarantee excellent customer service.
• Clearly communicate policy terms, coverage details, exclusions, and conditions.
• Support audits and quality checks related to underwriting.
• Recognize potential risks and escalate complex cases to senior underwriters.
• Contribute ideas and efforts towards improving underwriting workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Economics, or related disciplines.
• Previous roles such as Assistant Underwriter, Underwriting Assistant, Insurance Coordinator, Policy Administrator, Risk Analyst, or Insurance Operations Executive preferred.
• Experience with general, health, life, property, motor, or commercial insurance is advantageous.
• Familiarity with underwriting principles, policy administration, and risk evaluation.
• Experience using insurance management and CRM software systems.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Capability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic insurance environment.
